Our ZL1 Hood Scoop Heat Extraction brackets take advantage of a design Pratt & Miller developed for the proven GT4.R racing program to balance the extra downforce by their custom rear wing... and how far they could move the hood scoop to reduce frontal lift. The rules at which they were competing with, did NOT allow modification of the front template of the Camaro ZL1, so to meet the downforce created by the adjustable "spoon-style" rear wing and not lose front grip, the solution was to use threaded rods with spacers on the scoop, adjusting it accordingly for the correct amount of frontal lift reduction.

Our final design is the culmination of five different versions I have created over the past two years. I had tried a single point attachment which at high speeds passing another car resulted what can only be described as a "tank-slapper" of the hood-scoop corners... which lead to a dual welded ribbed version that looked like louvers. So version two, did not fit with the Maggie SC intake... so that was a NoGo design and welding was too costly. Version 3 was four separate bent tabs but required drilling holes into the hood, had a great amount of airflow but with some air intake systems could be a bit too close. I also did not trust selling a part that required drilling into the aluminum hood for anyone who would want to return their car to Stock for resale or warranty reasons. Version 4 was very similar in design, but this final version gives the most amount of scoop deflection for the Maggie & Whipple intakes where the passenger side actually has a bit more opening.

To say the least, I have tested these parts for thousands of miles on the track and street with great results.
